The All New Rexton is chosen as car of month by Korean journalists

Dec.03.2020

The Korea Automobile Journalists Association (KAJA) has selected the All New SsangYong Rexton as its car of the month for December.

Every month, the association selects its best model among all the new cars and face-lifted models launched during the previous month based on five criteria: exterior design, interior design, practicality, safety and comfort, product marketability and desirability. Each candidate vehicle is comprehensively evaluated, and the winner selected by ballot amongst members of the KAJA vehicle selection committee.

The Rexton had to see off stiff competition from the Porsche Taycan and Renault Samsung QM6, among others, and secured a winning total of 19.3 points (out of 25 points) to take the title. With up to 5 points available for each of the five categories, the All New Rexton scored an average of 3.9 points for each category, receiving 4.3 points for practicality and 4 points for exterior design.

Ryu Jong-eun, chairman of this year's car selection committee, commented: "The All New Rexton has been reimagined with a new design especially at the front, and a new 12.3-inch full digital cluster and centre console for driving convenience. The car is equipped with a new powertrain which delivers both improved power and fuel efficiency, and its 3 ton towing capacity is ideal for leisure activities such as yachting and camping."

The Korea Automobile Press Association launched its monthly car award in May 2019, and has nominated the following this year: ▲ Kia K5 (January) ▲ Genesis GV80 (February) ▲ Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan (March) ▲ Genesis G80 (April) ▲ Hyundai Avante (May) ▲ Renault Capture (June) ▲ Audi A4 (July) ▲ Peugeot 2008 SUV (August) ▲ Mercedes-Benz GLB (September) ▲ Hyundai Tucson (October) ▲ BMW New 5 Series (November). Full results are released on the association's websitewww.kaja.org

The Korea Automobile Press Association comprises 54 media and 200 journalists. It was established in August 2010 with the aim of promoting media proficiency contributing to the development of the automotive industry, promoting a professional culture, improving the qualifications of automotive journalists, and encouraging mutual friendship among members.
