Ssangyong Motor (CEO Lee Yoo-il;www.smotor.com), part of the Mahindra Group, today announced the company reported its highest ever monthly sales since 2005, with a total of 14,244 vehicles globally – 6,202 units in domestic sales and 8,042 units in exports.

The third quarter results are driven by sales growth in the Korando family of products. In particular, the New Korando C, launched in August this year, was well received in the market with its sales volume and revenue growing more than 19% in Q3 2013, compared to Q3 2012, and more than 21% on a year-to-date basis.

Its sales in October highly increased by 27.1% from a year earlier and by 22.1% on an accumulated basis. The sales growth was driven by the highest ever monthly sales of the Korando C with 5,997 units since its launch in 2010. The company started to sell this model globally in earnest by introducing the New Korando C in August this year.

In addition to robust sales of face-lifted model, it was also attributed to record monthly production volume of 14,786 units this year, as extra work shift on days and weekends which helped supply increase was back to normal.

Ssangyong’s domestic sales recorded the highest ever in 7 years since December 2006 at 6,534 units, with a sales increase on all models including the Korando Family Brand models. It rose greatly by 48.2% over the same month last year.

In CBU exports, the company set a sales record in history with a total of 8,042 units including 3,960 shipping units of the New Korando C, which was sold globally in earnest. It rose by 14.5% year-on-year.

Ssangyong expects this sales growth will accelerate as the New Korando C will be launched in more overseas markets like Europe following China. The company will strive to expand production volume to supply the vehicles to customers in a timely manner.

Lee Yoo-il, CEO of Ssangyong Motor, commented, “We achieved the highest ever monthly sales in October since 2005 as well as profits for two consecutive quarters backed by sales increase,” adding, “Such sales growth will accelerate as the New Korando C has been receiving an overwhelming response from the global market.”
