Warming up winter

May.16.2006

On the back of a terrifically successful summer series of racing, Supermoto WA is not touching the front brake.

Instead they are diving hard into the Bikers Corner Supermoto WA 2006 Club Championship, to be run from

May to September. The three round summer series saw a myriad of riders from all disciplines take it to the tar,

including road race heroes Wayne Smith, Ben and Cameron Stronach, Steve Mitchell, Jamie Boland, Strett Cull

and even 250 Australian GP Champion Allan Watts. The road race lads blended on the bends with motorcross

ex-pats such as Steve Mouritz and Dean Taylor and speedway legends Steve Johnston and Darren Nash.

Though Nashy, the 2005 Supermoto WA Club Champion, started the series in fine form, Steve Mouritz absolutely

pounded him and the rest of the opposition to take six wins from six starts in Round 2 and 3.

Nevertheless, the Summer Series Championship was taken out by Darren Nash (Motorcycle City / Bridgestone

KTM), with second going to Dean Taylor (Franzone TM Racing) and third to Steve Mouritz (Joondalup

Motorcycles / Honda Shop).

......

Reflecting back nearly a year to the day, it should not be forgotten that Round 1 of the Supermoto WA 2005 Club

Championship was ground to a sudden halt with the tragic loss of Nigel Dickin in the Advanced group's first race.

Nig's presence still rests deep in the hearts and minds of all members of the motard fraternity both in WA and the

eastern states. Though he is no longer with us, many may be pleased to know that his beautifully prepared Husky

SMR450 will grace the track in race prep for the first time since the accident.

The first layer of liquorice will laid on the tar of Wanneroo International Kart Track on Sunday the 21st of May. Round

2 will be held in June at Cockburn on the 18th. Seewww.supermotowa.comfor more details.
