SsangYong’s March sales increased for three consecutive months this year helped by continued popularity of the Tivoli brand models, but compared to March 2016, it dropped slightly by 0.1 percent due to sluggish market demand.

Its domestic sales rose for the third month in a row with an increase of 1.8 percent over March 2016 and 7.6 percent on an accumulated basis. It is attributed to the continued popularity of the Tivoli brand models which sold over 5,000 units in March 2017.

SsangYong’s export also dropped by 4.5 percent compared to the same month last year due to sluggish global economy, but compared to the previous month, it showed a recovery with an increase of 38.9 percent.

SsangYong will expand its global sales steadily by launching the New Style Korando C (Export name: Korando) in the European market, strengthening global marketing activities, and exploring the new markets.

Especially its January-March domestic sales set a record high in 13 years since Q1 2004 when the company sold 26,076 units. It is attributed to the Tivoli brand models which led the sales uptrend with an increase of 23.5 percent over Q1 2016.

At the Seoul Motor Show 2017, the company invited over 70 global dealers and foreign journalists and, introduced its large premium SUV, G4 Rexton (Export name: Rexton) in order to drive the G4 Rexton’s successful sales in the global market.

Choi Johng-sik, CEO of SsangYong Motor Company, commented, “SsangYong’s sales soared for the third straight month this year thanks to the steady sales increase of Tivoli brand models,” adding, “We will further increase our global sales based on our strengthened SUV lineup from the compact SUV Tivoli to the large SUV with the launch of the G4 Rexton.”
