SsangYong Motor Exceeded 100,000 unit production of Tivoli platform models

▪ Exceeded 100,000 units of production in 17 months since its launch, recording the shortest period among all the SsangYong models

▪ Leading the growing compact SUV market in Korea, sales increased 55.9% year on year globally

▪ Attract a wide range of customers by focusing on the SUV’s strong features of practicality and economic efficiency along with XLV (Tivoli long-bodied version) launch following Tivoli


SsangYong Motor Company (CEO Johng-sik Choi; www.smotor.com/en) announced that the company held a ceremony to celebrate that Tivoli-platform models have surpassed 100,000 units of production


Attended by 50 management and employees including Seung-Ki Song, the head of Production Headquarter, the ceremony was held at the Pyeongtaek Plant Assembly Shop Line 1 on June 13th, 2016 to celebrate the achievement and commit joint-efforts for perfect quality.


Besides Tivoli has been a leading model in the compact SUV market since its launch in Korea in January last year, addition of XLV has created a synergy effect resulting in Tivoli brand to be firmly established as the no. 1 compact SUV brand.


Compact SUV market in Korea has been greatly growing every year, especially since Tivoli launch.


Thanks to Tivoli’s sales recording 45,000 units last year, the compact SUV market in Korea expanded by almost 3 times in 2015 compared to previous year, and by 34% year on year, as of the end of this May.


In the meantime, Tivoli became the model to achieve 100,000 units of production at the fastest rate among SsangYong models by making the record in 17 months, shortening by about 10 months among all the SsangYong models. (Rexton in 26 months: Jul 2001 ~ Sep 2003, Korando in 29 months: Aug 2010 ~ Jan 2013).


An official from SsangYong explained that sales of Tivoli platform models have continuously increase by attracting a wider range of customer group with its practicality and economical benefits as well as launched of extended model range.


Tivoli was built 64,781 units last year (63,693 units sold) and 33,341 units from this January to May this year. Its accumulated production stood at 97,796 units as of the end of this May, and surpassed 100,000 units as of June 13th, 2016.



Total 7,545 units of Tivoli were sole globally this May, boosted by the release of XLV. Its cumulative global sales so far this year grew by 55.9 percent, while its domestic sales and exports increased 49 percent and 71 percent respectively.


Seung-Ki Song, the Head of Production Headquarter, commented “the success of Tivoli brand models could be achieved thanks to management and employee’s hard work and effort in production sector to offer excellent quality products to customers.” And he added, “we will do our utmost to maximize customers’ satisfaction through enhancing productivity and quality improvement.”
