Mar.10.2016

▪ Ssangyong sells over 10,000 cars for second straight month, up 8.7% year-on-year

▪ Continued robust sales of Tivoli and upgrade of SUV lineup contribute to sales increase

▪ Upcoming Tivoli Air expected to expand sales for Ssangyong

Seoul, S. Korea, March 2, 2016: Ssangyong Motor (CEO Choi Johng-sik; www.smotor.com), part of the Mahindra Group, today announced that the company sold a total of 10,574 units in February 2016 – 6,982 units in domestic sales and 3,592 in exports.

Despite reduced working days affected by Lunar New Year holiday, its global sales surged over 8% compared to the same month last year thanks to rising sales at home and abroad. The continued strong sales of the Tivoli and aggressive strategies including an upgrade of all SUV lineup also contributed to the good performance.

Ssangyong’s sales were up 6.3% from a year earlier in the domestic market, made possible by responding to the market actively through the serial launches of upgraded models. The company launched 2016 Korando Sports, Rexton W, and Korando C in January followed by the Korando Turismo Plus which provides 4WD to all trims as standard feature in February.

Aggressive promotion strategies, highlighting excellent product quality such as expanded car warranties to 5 years/100,000km for all RVs in celebration of the Tivoli’s first anniversary, have received favorable responses from the consumers.

Ssangyong’s exports also soared 13.9% over the same month last year as its European exports were up over 40% year-on-year thanks to increased sales of the Tivoli abroad.

Meanwhile, Ssangyong has unveiled the Tivoli Air (exports name: XLV) globally at Geneva Motor Show, and will hold a launch event of the Tivoli Air in Seoul on March 8.

Choi Johng-sik, CEO of Ssangyong Motor, commented, “We achieved better performance than February last year by responding to the market actively including the serial launches of upgraded models under unfavorable conditions such as weak consumption and reduced working days,” adding, “We will increase our sales by being geared towards global SUV market through the upcoming Tivoli Air.”
