SsangYong Motor joined the OAA, Google’s global connected car alliance

▪ Aim to satisfy customers’ demand for various app services by bringing the Android Auto system to cars


▪ Plan to develop smart cars applying smart phone alliance system


SsangYong Motor Company (CEO Johng-sik Choi; http://www.kg-mobility.com/en) joined the OAA (Open Automotive Alliance) to provide convenient and high-tech services to customers, with so called “Smart Car”.


‘Open Automotive Alliance (OAA)’ is a global connected car development alliance of IT industry leaders and auto makers, aiming to develop smart car with the Android platform, starting in 2014 by Google. The members of the OAA are the global leading companies, including GM, Volvo, Volkswagen, Panasonic, Nvidia.


Google officially approved of SsangYong and Mahindra as the member of the OAA at Google I/O 2015 in San Francisco on May 28th, saying that it plans to cooperate the development of SsangYong and M&M vehicles with Android Auto platform.


Accordingly, SsangYong plans to apply new programs integrated with the Android auto system to new models, allowing customers to easily use various Android app services including Google search and Google map with their Android smart phone or tablet PC.

 


“As a member of the OAA, SsangYong will continue to develop new technologies and services combined with IT, in order to improve the safety and convenience of the vehicles as well as to meet the increasing demand of customers.”, SsangYong explained.
