Ssangyong Motor holds 2013 Global Distributor Conference in Jeju

▪ About 100 distributors from 47 countries attended the conference for four days from Sept 3
▪ The distributors shared business vision and objectives, while discussing ways and strategic direction to expand exports and encourage cooperation
▪ Ssangyong Motor to secure stable demand through product portfolio diversification in the global market


Ssangyong Motor(CEO Lee Yoo-il;www.smotor.com), part of the Mahindra Group, recently held its annual Global Distributor Conference in Jeju Island from Sept 3 to 6 with about 100 foreign distributors from 47 countries in attendance.


The company, which aims at the highest ever exports sales, held this conference in order to share business vision, achieve business objectives and discuss strategic directions to expand exports and encourage cooperation.


The conference consists of various programs including test-drives of the New Korando on Sept 3, a Global Distributor Conference and an Excellent Distributor Award on Sept 4.


In particular, the distributors showed great interest in the significantly improved competitiveness of the New Korando, facelift of Korando which has received widespread popularity at home and abroad since its launch in 2011, in the global market after test-drive.


The New Korando, which was first unveiled in the domestic market on August 7, will be sold in the key export markets such as Europe, Russia and China along with launch events starting in the second half of this year.


The Russian distributor received the Best Distributor of the Year Award for three consecutive years, and additional 7 distributors including Chilean, Ukrainian and Turkish distributors were awarded for their good performance.


Meanwhile, Ssangyong set its sales goal of 149,300 units this year up 24% from a year earlier. If this goal is achieved, the company will post its highest ever exports. Ssangyong sold about 70,000 units in the first half of this year, up 21 % compared to the same period last year. It is the highest ever sales since the first half of 2007.


CEO Lee Yoo-il said that, “In the first half of this year, Ssangyong posted its highest ever sales record in 6 years backed by cohesive efforts to achieve sales goal and the successful launches of face-lifted models,” adding, “Ssangyong will make utmost efforts to secure its position as a primary global SUV maker by conducting aggressive marketing activities, improving brand image and invigorating sales of the face-lifted models including the New Korando C.
