Mar.11.2005

Ssangyong Motor Co.said it will begin selling today a special model of its luxury New Chairman sedan with high-end safety options.

Ssangyong said it installed a tire pressure monitoring system on the "new tech" models for the first time in the country, as well as the electronic self-leveling air suspension and the electric parking brake which were used only by top-tier foreign makers such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

A T-Tronic 5-speed automatic transmission is also fitted to the new Ssangyong model for better ride and performance.

"The new tech model was developed to meet the new demands of the domestic market with the increasing presence of foreign luxury cars," said a Ssangyong official in a statement.

The New Chairman, a top-seller in the domestic large car market since its release in late 2003, comes in four trims priced between 32 million and 68 million won.
